The Charlotte Orioles will head out on the road to face off against the Mason Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlotte is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-31, which was the final score in Charlotte's tilt against the Cougars on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Charlotte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 520th, while the Cougars are ranked 61st).
The losing side was boosted by Jaelyn Baker, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 61.3% of Charlotte's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kayle Pugh was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Mason came up short against the Redwings on Friday and fell 46-35. Mason has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Charlotte dropped their record down to 3-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Mason, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Charlotte might still be hurting after the 54-31 defeat they got from the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Charlotte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
