1A District 7 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Southern Lab moved up to 150 from 221 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A District 7. A 18-15 win over Capitol helped the Kittens improve their standing.
Southern Lab and the Lions played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Southern Lab eventually emerging with a 18-15 victory.
Korey Zeigler put up the best numbers through the air as Archbishop Hannan beat Pine. He finished with a total of 13 completions for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Zeigler's favorite target this week was Jason Brooks, who caught seven passes for 37 yards.
Logan McGregor was the best wideout in the league this week as Mt. Hermon fell to West Lincoln. McGregor racked up two receptions for 61 yards. Anthony Brumfield helped Mt. Hermon's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.
Brandon Lapharoahs was the most productive running back in 1A District 7 this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 170 yards as the Yellowjackets fell to the Bears. Brumfield also contributed to the rushing game with 10 yards on the ground.
The Hawks' Zeigler and Brooks have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Zeigler has thrown for 292 yards this season, while Brooks, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 13 catches for 158 yards. Mt. Hermon's Lapharoahs leads the league in rushing yards with 414.
