Football Game Preview: Tularosa Wildcats vs. Loving Falcons

Tularosa is a perfect 3-0 against Loving since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

It was a proper cat-fight when Tularosa took on Jal on Friday. The Wildcats fell 13-6 to the Panthers. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Loving played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 51-7 defeat at the hands of Texico. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Tularosa will have to keep a close watch on Tristen Onsurez and Rider Gonzalez, a pair of players who had a big impact on Loving's prior game. Onsurez threw for 153 yards and one TD, while Gonzalez picked up 37 receiving yards and one touchdown. Gonzalez also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending one pass.

While Loving came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Texico: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 43.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Onsurez, Gonzalez, and Ricky Fuentes, who each logged one passes deflected. Loving wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 31%.

Loving's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Tularosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Tularosa didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Loving in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 12-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
