Banneker is 7-0 against Ballou since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Banneker Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Ballou Knights at 5:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Banneker's favor as the team sits on 11 straight wins at home while Ballou has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Last Wednesday, Banneker faced Jackson-Reed in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Banneker suffered a tough 57-32 defeat at the hands of Jackson-Reed. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Banneker has suffered yet this season.
Despite the defeat, Banneker saw an underclassman step up: Promise Njoku scored 19 points along with four steals and two blocks. Njoku hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Rainelle McNeill, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-23, which was the final score in Ballou's tilt against Roosevelt on Wednesday.
Banneker has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Ballou, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Banneker strolled past Ballou in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 36-17. Will Banneker repeat their success, or does Ballou have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
