The Edison Vikings were the 56-48 winner over the Lodi Flames when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Edison fell just short of Lodi by a score of 56-53. While losing is never fun, Edison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while Lodi is ranked 189th).
Edison's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Damarcus Cobb Jr, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Tytus Billingsly who scored 11 points. The game was Cobb Jr's third in a row with at least ten points.
Edison are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. As for Lodi, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Edison will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clovis East at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th. As for Lodi, they will take on San Joaquin Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Joaquin Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Lodi likes a good challenge.
