Cary has gone 6-1 against Riverside-Durham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cary Imps will welcome the Riverside-Durham Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cary took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Panther Creek by a score of 9-5.
Logan Joyce and Avery Lin made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Joyce pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Lin pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Joyce scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Lin went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Owen Green was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gavin Mathis, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Riverside-Durham put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability as Riverside-Durham made off with a 21-1 win.
The team relied heavily on Kaiden Nichols, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Kj Burton was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.
Riverside-Durham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern School of Energy and Sustainability only posted an OBP of .118.
The victory got Cary back to even at 1-1. As for Riverside-Durham, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.
Everything went Cary's way against Riverside-Durham in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Cary made off with a 9-1 victory. Will Cary repeat their success, or does Riverside-Durham have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
