Baseball Game Preview: Rancho Bernardo Broncos vs. San Marcos Knights

For the second straight game, Rancho Bernardo will face off against San Marcos. The Broncos will head out to take on the Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Rancho Bernardo took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against San Marcos by a score of 9-6.

Caden Dockan tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jr. Gonzales and HUGO GONZALEZ did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzales went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while GONZALEZ went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave GONZALEZ a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Glick, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Rancho Bernardo pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for San Marcos, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5-1.
