The Providence Pioneers were the 58-49 winner over the Jeffersonville Red Devils when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Providence received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 64-45 to Jeffersonville. Providence has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Jeffersonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Cooper led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five steals. Cooper is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of P.j. Douglas, who scored 12 points along with six assists and two steals.
Providence's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Jeffersonville, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-6.
Providence will take on Henryville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Henryville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Providence is ranked 23rd). As for Jeffersonville, Jeffersonville and Center Grove will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Center Grove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 526 points over their last seven matchups.
