For the first time this season, Montgomery will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to square off against the Olympian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Montgomery is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past San Ysidro, posting a 36-0 win. The Aztecs haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Montgomery's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Mena-Malijan, who threw for 241 yards and one touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Mena-Malijan has posted since back in October of 2024. Qassim Williams was in the mix too, providing Montgomery with two scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Montgomery proved: they limited San Ysidro to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. While two picked up at least 11 total tackles, Isaac Espinosa stood above the rest. He made 11 total tackles (4.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Montgomery didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.1.
Meanwhile, Olympian took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-13 win over Castle Park. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by 26 points or more so far this season.
Montgomery better keep an eye on Jayden Fuentes. He was instrumental in Olympian's win, throwing for 185 yards and three TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 45 yards. Jorgani Estrada was Fuentes' top target, picking up 59 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Olympian, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dylan Loe, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from Estrada.
Montgomery's record now sits at 5-2. As for Olympian, their record is now 6-1.
Montgomery was able to grind out a solid victory over Olympian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 14-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aztecs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
