The Triton Central Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Lapel Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Triton Central sitting on five straight wins and Lapel on 11.
Triton Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-6 victory over Northeastern. The Tigers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Braden Brown was his usual excellent self, rushing for 139 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, while also picking up 51 receiving yards and a pair of scores. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 92-yard run. Matthew Wilkins was another key player, throwing for 160 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Triton Central didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Northeastern to a completion percentage of just 48%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Conner McClure, Hudson Reichanadter, and David Gorth, who each logged one passes deflected. Triton Central has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.6 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.6 in their last three games.
Triton Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Henry Kemper and Zeke Robertson.
Meanwhile, Lapel gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They secured a 26-22 W over Eastern Hancock.
Triton Central better keep an eye on Devin Craig. He was instrumental in Lapel's win, throwing for 300 yards and four TDs. Craig has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Triton Central's record is now 10-1. As for Lapel, their record now sits at 11-0.
Triton Central came up short against Lapel in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 27-17. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Craig, who threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns. Now that the Tigers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
