This season hasn't been kind to the Tarpon Springs Spongers, who are still winless after their 13th contest. They were outmatched by Seminole on the road and fell 65-21. Tarpon Springs has not had much luck with Seminole recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Tarpon Springs still got an impressive performance from Lexi Cipollini, who scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Tarpon Springs struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Seminole was led to victory by Laney Pearson and Devon Swartz. Pearson scored 17 points, while Swartz scored 16 points along with two blocks. Swartz hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Santore, who scored ten points.
Tarpon Springs dropped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road. As for Seminole, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tarpon Springs won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fivay at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Fivay presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tarpon Springs in Florida (Fivay is ranked 320th, while Tarpon Springs is ranked 642nd). As for Seminole, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Osceola at 7:00 p.m.
