The Francis Parker Lancers will be playing at home against the Monte Vista Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Francis Parker, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-36 loss to La Jolla Country Day. While losing is never fun, Francis Parker can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while La Jolla Country Day is ranked 20th).
Despite the loss, Francis Parker saw an underclassman step up: Gigi Ong scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren O'brien, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Monte Vista's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. The match between them and El Capitan wasn't particularly close, with Monte Vista falling 53-39. Monte Vista has struggled against El Capitan recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Francis Parker's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9. As for Monte Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.
Francis Parker came up short against Monte Vista in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, falling 63-58. Thankfully for Francis Parker, Samantha Gonzalez (who scored 29 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
