The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past The Rock with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 56-38. Given P.K. Yonge's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while The Rock is ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
P.K. Yonge found their leader in underclassman Ashlyn Young, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Young's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorryn Dye, who scored a points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
P.K. Yonge now has a winning record of 5-4. As for The Rock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. P.K. Yonge will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Gainesville at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th.
