Football Game Preview: Rubidoux Falcons vs. La Sierra Eagles

For the first time this season, Rubidoux will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the La Sierra Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rubidoux will be strutting in after a victory while La Sierra will be coming in after a defeat.

Rubidoux took a loss when they played away from home on September 12th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They walked away with a 17-10 win over Temecula Prep.

Jesus Vasquez had a dynamite game, rushing for 153 yards and one TD while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Those 153 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Rubidoux's defense and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Bryan Castaneda-Sevilla and Junior Pena, who racked up four sacks between them. Jayden Espinoza was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles.

Meanwhile, La Sierra fell victim to Moreno Valley and their airtight defense two weeks ago. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 21-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 860th, while the Vikings are ranked 408th).

This is the second loss in a row for La Sierra and nudges their season record down to 1-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 27 points in those games. As for Rubidoux, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
