Citrus Belt recap November 13, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Miller, who took down 454th ranked Cajon, 37-21.
Tanner Ward and Brandon Scott provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Redlands. The longest such play in Citrus Belt this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Yucaipa's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ward threw for 175 and 2 touchdowns and Scott had 125 yards receiving. On the ground Erik Abrams contributed 131 yards. Abrams helped Yucaipa's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 45 yards.
Abrams was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 131 yards as the Thunderbirds bested the Terriers. Dakota Smith also contributed to the rushing game with 117 yards on the ground.
6-foot-0 quarterback Armando Herrera of Redlands East Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,637. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Scott. The Yucaipa star has 48 catches for 1,045 yards.
The Rebels moved up to 584 from 666 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Miller climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Cowboys 37-21.
