Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Silver Creek

With a playoff win on the line, Silver Creek rose to the challenge on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Evangelina Cuevas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jessenia 'Taco' Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Silver Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Silver Creek's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for San Lorenzo Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11-1.

Coming up, Silver Creek will face off against Gunn on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. San Lorenzo Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
