The Columbus Discoverers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They were beaten by Lincoln North Star 80-51. Columbus has not had much luck with Lincoln North Star recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Columbus lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caden Kapels. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kapels pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ryder Bock was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Leading Lincoln North Star to victory were Jordan Castor and KG Gatwech. Castor scored 17 points along with four steals and two blocks, while Gatwech scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lazerek Houston, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Columbus bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Lincoln North Star, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus will take on Hastings at TBD on Saturday. As for Lincoln North Star, they will play host again and welcome Lincoln Northeast, where tip off is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Lincoln Northeast is ranked 113th, while Lincoln North Star is ranked 114th).
