The Lyons Lions's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They strolled past Union Colony Prep with points to spare, taking the game 85-67. Lyons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Caleb Christiansen, who scored 30 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Bolkovatz, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tanner Sarchet, who scored 23 points. Josiah Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Union Colony Prep struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lyons pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Lyons' victory ended a 12-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9. As for Union Colony Prep, they bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyons will take on Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Clear Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. As for Union Colony Prep, they will be playing at home against Front Range Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Front Range Christian is ranked 319th, while Union Colony Prep is ranked 328th).
