The McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Charlton County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Charlton County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on McIntosh County Academy, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, McIntosh County Academy humbled Glenn Hills with a 79-28 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-14.
McIntosh County Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Johnson, who scored 23 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of McIntosh County Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Mj Quarterman, who scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Charlton County came up short against Hilliard on Saturday and fell 61-53. While losing is never fun, Charlton County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 363rd in Georgia, while Hilliard is ranked 152nd in Florida).
Charlton County's loss came about despite a quality game from Ja'mari Hamilton, who scored 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Toliver, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
The losses dropped McIntosh County Academy to 3-1 and Glenn Hills to 0-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: McIntosh County Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.8 rebounds per game.
