Ocala Christian and Real Life Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. Ocala Christian will host Real Life Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ocala Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with eight straight defeats, while Real Life Christian Academy will come in with seven straight wins.
Ocala Christian managed to slip by Cedar Key the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Ocala Christian came up short against Cedar Key on Tuesday, falling 17-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Crusaders have suffered against the Sharks since March 7, 2017.
Ocala Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Valery Coello-Alamo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Lainie Culver also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Even though they lost, Ocala Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Real Life Christian Academy made easy work of Lake Buena Vista on Tuesday and carried off a 14-4 victory. Considering the Raptors have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Rylee Lyon was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Kirton, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Real Life Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.6 runs over those games. As for Ocala Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Ocala Christian might still be hurting after the 22-9 loss they got from Real Life Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Ocala Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
