The Summit Academy Bears were the 51-38 winner over the Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Summit Academy took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Judge Memorial Catholic on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Summit Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Colbyn Draper, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Draper has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stewart Woodward, who scored 14 points along with two blocks.
Aaydan Saucedo was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds for Judge Memorial Catholic. Jj Apathjang was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Summit Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
Summit Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. American Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Summit Academy likes a good challenge. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence Hall is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
