Ottawa-Glandorf extended the longest winning streak in Western Buckeye this week by beating Kenton, 52-16. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Titans.
Ottawa-Glandorf was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Wildcats 52-16. Ken Schriner's team came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 39 last week.
Kenton's dynamic duo of Grant Sherman and Justin Sawmiller proved tough for the Titans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sherman threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns and Sawmiller had 148 yards receiving. Colyn Blackford helped Kenton's passing attack out by catching five balls for 67 yards.
Doug Sanders provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Bath beat Van Wert. He completed 18 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 119 yards. Sanders' favorite target this week was Teran Sullivan, who caught nine passes for 100 yards.
Eric Heffner made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Wildcats bested the Cougars. The 5-foot-10 junior grabbed one interception.
Mike Mauk's team's Sherman and Sawmiller have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sherman has thrown for 1998 yards this season, while Sawmiller, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 58 catches for 912 yards. Bath's Sanders leads the league in rushing yards with 635.
Entering into this week's contest against Elida, Sherman is short just two passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Kenton's Sawmiller is only 88 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the the Bulldogs.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Wapakoneta takes on Ottawa-Glandorf. As it stands, the Redskins are in fourth, while the Titans are in first.
Chris Miller's team moved up to 283 from 364 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Western Buckeye. A 33-7 win over Van Wert helped the Wildcats improve their standing.
