The Platte Valley Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Berthoud. Platte Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Berthoud apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Platte Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lauryn Uyemura. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with six steals and five assists. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Uyemura. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Koffler, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Berthoud's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Pfohl, who scored 23 points along with three steals. The matchup was Pfohl's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Sofia Sigg was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Platte Valley has fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 1-6. As for Berthoud, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Platte Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eaton at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Berthoud will be home for the holidays to greet Littleton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Littleton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
