There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Paramus's junior Trevor Bopp, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Paramus's 40 - 13 win over Ridgefield Park last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Trevor Bopp. Bopp earned four touchdowns and 190 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Bopp among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between St. Peter's Prep (3rd in the power rankings) and DePaul Catholic (4th). St. Peter's Prep couldn't quite keep up with DePaul Catholic and ended up losing 16 - 13. The outcome was a definite jolt of excitement for St. Peter's Prep after its previous game, where the margin was anything but close.
Movin on Up
Highland Regional gave both Timber Creek Regional and its quarterback (sacked seven times) a rough time last week. Highland Regional won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Timber Creek Regional 16 - 15. Sophomore Johnny Martin iii was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he ran for 119 yards and also punched in one touchdown). The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by 14, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between St. Joseph Regional (2nd in the power rankings) and Bergen Catholic (1st). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Only one team will win this week, so we'll see which team fails to repeat its success.
