The Springfield Tigers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a rough 78-57 loss at the hands of Pipestone. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Springfield has scored all season.
Ben Potter and Brayden Sturm certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Potter dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Sturm scored 19 points along with three steals. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Aiden Moriarty was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Springfield's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Pipestone, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Springfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. Pipestone won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Montevideo at 4:15 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Montevideo has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 368 points over their last five games.
