The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 74-50 loss at the hands of Greer. While losing is never fun, Blue Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Greer is ranked 12th).
When it comes to explaining why Blue Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nash Somero. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 3 assists. The match was Somero's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Stevens, who scored 8 points.
Blue Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Greer, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will challenge Daniel at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Averaging 62 so far this season, Daniel's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Blue Ridge better be ready for a challenge. As for Greer, they will head out on the road to face off against James F. Byrnes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully James F. Byrnes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday.
