The soccer season has produced some dominant performances as the season gets close to the final four weeks. The postseason can bring an upset or too but so far several teams have definitely jumped to the front of the contender list as the season ends and the conference play-in games are held Jan. 26.
The domination is led by the Campo Verde boys squad, which began the week ranked No. 8 in MaxPrep's national rankings. The Coyotes are in the 5A Conference after being in the big-school classification the year before, but the team has played plenty of 6A teams on the way to the great start to the year.
"We've had a lot things go our way," Campo Verde coach Drew Guarneri said. "We've won some overtime games and played well in the tight matches. It's a whole group thing. We have a littler older team with juniors and seniors, but even the seniors who don't get a lot of minutes are leaders. They work hard in practice and make the most of their playing time. We have a good mix of the players and they are all buying into the culture that we've developed in my five years."
Here is a look at the best records in the state per classifications heading into the week of Jan. 9-14.
