Miami's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vandals yet this season.

Ethan Guthrey was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Alex Doss and Mathew Zamora did most of the damage at the plate: Doss got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Zamora went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Zamora has posted since back in February. Sebastian Montano was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Miami's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Miami will face off against Chandler Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arizona Lutheran Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Coyotes have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
