The Union Mine Diamondbacks are taking a road trip to challenge the Reed Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Union Mine's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Reed's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Union Mine might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to Colfax, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Diamondbacks have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Union Mine got a good showing from Mack Brown, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Union Mine saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Lucas Leach, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Reed never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past Boulder City 13-0. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jacoby Harms made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.
Reed always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Reed's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Union Mine, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Union Mine has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Reed struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
