LEXINGTON, N.C. -
East Davidson (Thomasville, N.C.) grabbed the lead when
Bryce Bolen ran for a touchdown with 6:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Central Davidson (Lexington, N.C.) 28-21 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured two lead swaps.
The Spartans pulled ahead on a
Chris Moore touchdown pass to
Christian Pompey, and subsequently went into halftime leading 14-7. The Golden Eagles scored the winning points with a Bolen touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, East Davidson still trailed by seven points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped ED pull out the victory.
The loss comes after Central Davidson defeated Wheatmore 36-7 last week. With the win the Thomasville school extended its winning streak to three games.
In a non-conference game next week Central Davidson (1-2) takes on West Davidson, and East Davidson (3-0) will go up against Ledford also in a non-conference game.
