McHenry is 0-10 against Huntley since April of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. McHenry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for McHenry after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Warren Township by a score of 6-5.
Caitlyn Carlisle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Danica McCarthy and Morgan Frederick did some serious damage despite the final result: McCarthy went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Frederick went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Bender, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Huntley waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 17-2 win. Considering the Red Raiders have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Huntley also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Layla Olson gave up just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Olson has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Piper Heimbrodt was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Weniger also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Huntley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive games.
Huntley's record now sits at 12-4. As for McHenry, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. McHenry has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Huntley struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McHenry suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Huntley in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
