The Fremont Eagles will challenge the Woodlan Warriors at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Fremont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian hit Fremont with a four-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 14-4 to the Braves.
Fremont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Hufnagle, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Woodlan waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars, sneaking past 6-4.
Ethan Trygg and Ben Delagrange dominated on the mound. Trygg tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Delagrange tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Delagrange posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Fleek, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
Woodlan pushed their record up to 12-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fremont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-8 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fremont has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Woodlan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fremont couldn't quite get it done against Woodlan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
