Basketball Game Preview: Swallows Charter Academy Spartans vs. Swink Lions

Swallows Charter Academy is 1-9 against Swink since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Swallows Charter Academy Spartans will challenge the Swink Lions at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Swallows Charter Academy is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Las Animas on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Swallows Charter Academy lost 43-21 to Las Animas. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-10.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Erica Ponce, who posted seven points and six boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Swink took on Granada on Tuesday. Swink fell just short of Granada by a score of 39-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Like Swallows Charter Academy, Swink lost despite seeing results from several players. Briana McElroy led the charge by putting up ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelynn James, who earned nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Swallows Charter Academy and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Swink, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Swallows Charter Academy suffered a grim 41-15 defeat to Swink in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Swallows Charter Academy, Hunter Wallace (who had 14 points and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
