Basketball Recap: Seneca Starts Season with Win on the Road

Seneca had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 71-43 win over the Spartanburg Christian Academy Warriors. The Bobcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors on Monday, too.

Leading Seneca to victory were Jeremiah Hunter and Will Russell. Hunter went 8-for-16 to rack up 21 points and six steals, while Russell dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. That's the most steals Hunter has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chaz Moss, who shot 45% from the field en route to 11 points and six rebounds.

Seneca smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Seneca has already played their next game, an 81-66 victory against Irmo on the 25th. As for Spartanburg Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-34 loss against Spartanburg on the 25th.
