The Stanton County Trojans posted their biggest victory since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 60-34 margin over Elkhart. Given Stanton County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Elkhart is ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alvin Solis was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Luis Rodriguez, who scored ten points.
The win makes it two in a row for Stanton County and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for Elkhart, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Stanton County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lakin at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Lakin is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Elkhart, they will head out on the road to square off against Deerfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
