Sadiq Jones was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Blackburn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Franklin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson County only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Aucilla Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rutherford on Monday. Aucilla Christian was the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Rutherford. The match marked the Warriors' most dominant win of the season so far.
Cooper Wiles made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. Wiles was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Aucilla Christian is 5-1 when Wiles posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Aucilla Christian got a massive performance out of Dalton Demott, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Caleb Walsh was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Franklin County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Aucilla Christian now has a winning record of 6-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Franklin County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Aucilla Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin County was able to grind out a solid victory over Aucilla Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, winning 4-1. Will Franklin County repeat their success, or does Aucilla Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
