The Bishop Gorman Gaels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spring Valley Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Gorman will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Bishop Gorman faced the Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bishop Gorman walked away with a 32-25 win over the Patriots. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Bishop Gorman has scored all year.
Bishop Gorman found their leader in underclassman Addysen Carr, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Carr hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Savannah Searcy was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 52-37 to Faith Lutheran. Spring Valley has struggled against the Crusaders recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jada Green, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Charolette Delisle, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Bishop Gorman is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Spring Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bishop Gorman have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Spring Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bishop Gorman barely slipped by the Grizzlies when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 66-65. Does Bishop Gorman have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
