The Northwestern Tigers will take on the McCutcheon Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northwestern is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 13 games.
Northwestern barely beat Maconaquah the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Braves on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kade Dill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jaxson Trueblood was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was William Rees, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Northwestern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, McCutcheon scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 25-18 to Brownsburg. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mavericks have suffered since May 12, 2025.
Northwestern's record now sits at 19-3. As for McCutcheon, they moved to 14-8-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Northwestern might still be hurting after the 14-6 loss they got from McCutcheon in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
