Houston Christian was handed a 20-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 49-48 victory over the Lancaster Tigers. Those 49 points were actually the fewest the Mustangs have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Arianna Davis and Ava Womack certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Davis went 7-for-10 on her way to 20 points and six rebounds, while Womack posted 12 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Davis' big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Makenzie White was another key player, putting up five points.

Houston Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Lancaster, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Houston Christian will square off against Second Baptist at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lancaster, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-50 loss against Kingdom Collegiate Academy on the 22nd.
