The Cornerstone Family Saints scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Heritage Christian with a sharp 55-29 victory. That 26 points margin sets a new team best for Cornerstone Family this season.
Leading Cornerstone Family to victory were Lana Smittick and Kaylee Heinen. Smittick dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Heinen dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Heinen has scored at least a third of Cornerstone Family's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Culberth, who scored no points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Cornerstone Family pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Cornerstone Family will head out on the road to square off against University Academy Charter at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Heritage Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shawnee Mission Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
