Baseball Recap: Gainesville Takes a Loss

Gainesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Milton Eagles. The Red Elephants were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Cohen Miller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. CJ Saudarg was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Gainesville's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Milton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.

While Gainesville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
