Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Winslow Township walked away with it. They breezed past the Cumberland Colts to the tune of 56-0 on Saturday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 35 points or more this season.
Winslow Township's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalen Parker, who threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Parker is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyqir Helton, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Quayd Hendryx, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Winslow Township's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. Cumberland's QB won't forget Robert Carstarphen anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Benjamin Carter Jr was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making nine total tackles.
Winslow Township pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.0 points over those games. As for Cumberland, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Coming up, Winslow Township will challenge Shawnee at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Parker and Cole Anderson. Cumberland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
