The Hoopeston Cornjerkers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell to Iroquois West 52-46. Hoopeston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Hoopeston's loss came despite strong showings from Wyatt Eisenman and Trenton Montez. Eisenman scored 19 points along with two steals, while Montez scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Eisenman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played.
Hoopeston's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Iroquois West, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-14.
Hoopeston will take on the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Iroquois West, they will head out on the road to take on the Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Raiders in Illinois (the Comets are ranked 276th, while the Raiders are ranked 605th).
