Basketball Game Preview: Arcadia Firebirds vs. Southampton Indians

The Arcadia Firebirds will head out to face off against the Southampton Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Arcadia sitting on three straight wins and Southampton on six.

Arcadia is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since January 3rd on Monday. They breezed by Holly Grove Christian to the tune of 63-18. With the Firebirds ahead 34-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Jordan Cropper was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points and four steals. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ephraim Previlus was another key player, going 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Arcadia was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holly Grove Christian only posted one assist.

While Southampton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 61-53 win over Franklin on Tuesday. The 61-point effort marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Southampton pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Arcadia, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Arcadia beat Southampton 63-52 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Will Arcadia repeat their success, or does Southampton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
