After both having extra time off, The Classical Academy Titans and the DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets will shake off the rust and duke it out at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (The Classical Academy has 11 straight victories, DSST: Conservatory Green has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
The Classical Academy proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by three) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Holy Family 3-2.
The Classical Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Holy Family into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 22-25, 15-11.

The Classical Academy can attribute much of their success to Mallory Smith, who had 12 digs. Those 12 digs gave Smith a new career-high.
The Classical Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 17 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, DSST: Conservatory Green came up short against Regis Groff last Tuesday and fell 3-1. While the Hornets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Fusion 25-14 in the first set.
DSST: Conservatory Green started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 14-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-19.
The Classical Academy will have to keep a close watch on Leah Torres and Arwen Abrego, a pair of players who had a big impact on DSST: Conservatory Green's prior game. Torres had 24 digs and two aces, while Abrego had 11 digs.
The Classical Academy's victory bumped their record up to 21-2. As for DSST: Conservatory Green, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
