Overland had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-4 to make it four. They lost 21-9 to the Skyview Wolverines. If the Blazers were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Wolverines when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Overland saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Humberto Perez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another was Malachi Gross, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Skyview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
On Skyview's side, Marcus Archuleta made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Archuleta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carlos Carrillo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Casillas, who went 1-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Overland will challenge Mountain Range at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.36 runs per game on average), something the Blazers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Skyview, they will welcome Montbello at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.63 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of.
