The Summit Academy Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Hillcrest Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Summit Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Monday.
Summit Academy struggled with assists last Monday (Bountiful had 1600% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Summit Academy took a serious blow against Bountiful, falling 98-48. Summit Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.
Despite the loss, Summit Academy had strong showings from Colbyn Draper, who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, and Lance Green, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds. The matchup was Draper's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Stewart Woodward, who scored 5 points.
Even though Hillcrest has not done well against Mountain Ridge recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hillcrest walked away with a 57-47 win over Mountain Ridge. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but Hillcrest was the better team in the second half.
Hillcrest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Tanner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Damani Wilkerson, who scored 11 points along with 4 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Summit Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Hillcrest, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
