Basketball Recap: Westview Skates Past Mishawaka with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westview). They breezed by the Mishawaka Cavemen to the tune of 58-30 on Saturday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 25 points or more this season.

Westview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karis Weinberg, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was JJ Whetstone, who scored ten points and three steals.

Grace Matherly and Reese Brugh certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Matherly almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds, while Brugh earned seven points. That's the most points Matherly has posted since back in November of 2023.

The victory got Westview back to even at 4-4. As for Mishawaka, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Westview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 35-34 loss against West Noble on the 5th. As for Mishawaka, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-18 defeat against Marquette Catholic on the 6th.
