Baseball Recap: Boone County Takes a Loss

Boone County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holy Cross Indians. One positive for the Rebels, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Mason Coughenour was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Ben Inman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Coughenour wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Boone County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Boone County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Holy Cross, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Boone County will challenge St. Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boone County is facing St. Henry at the right time seeing as St. Henry is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Holy Cross, they will face off against Newport Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
