The Malad Dragons will take on the Lighthouse Christian Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lighthouse Christian will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Malad extended their winning streak to six on Monday. The Dragons put the hurt on Soda Springs with a sharp 13-2 victory.
Brooks Blaisdell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dawson Peterson was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Hudson Daniels was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lighthouse Christian took on Soda Springs on Wednesday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 17-9 margin over the Cardinals.
Brennan Ford and Brody Cowger were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Ford struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Cowger tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Ford went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Cowger got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Korbin Hyink, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkley Hills, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Lighthouse Christian's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Malad, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
Everything went Malad's way against Lighthouse Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Malad made off with a 15-1 win. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
